"A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not
what ships are built for."
John A. Shedd

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year. My name is Chris Nugent and I am very excited to be the new principal at Fulton School this year. Jean McDonald left large shoes to fill. But, the Fulton staff, students and families have always had a special place in my heart. I spent 16 years teaching 5th and 6th grade at Fulton from 1989-2004. I am absolutely thrilled to be back. It seems fitting to come full circle, from serving students and families as a teacher to facilitating teaching and learning as the principal. I have high expectations for a positive, collaborative school culture with student achievement as the focus for the 2011-2012 school year.

On behalf of the Fulton staff, I want to welcome back all of our returning families and extend a welcome to any new families. We have an exciting school year planned with many challenging and engaging learning opportunities. A strong school and family partnership will enable all of us to do what is best for your child and together we can make this an outstanding school year. Fulton has several opportunities for families to be involved in their children's learning experience at school. Parents are invited to attend conferences, open house, and lunches, just to name a few. The Student Handbook provides the answers to many questions that you may have. However, you are also encouraged to call or email anytime you have questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting all of you and working together to provide academic, social, and emotional growth for your children.
